How to enter the Louise Rennison National Funny Award

Check out our quick step guide - with details on how to submit your award entries ...

1. Create a FilmFreeway account

Entries to the Louise Rennison National Funny Award must be submitted via FilmFreeway.

Creating an account is really simple and easy to do - it's also entirely free! But if you are under 18 years of age, you'll need to get permission from an adult.

To set up an account click here to learn more, and follow the instructions provided.

You'll see FilmFreeway is used by lots of film festivals but it's also great for creative competitions like ours - allowing you to upload and enter your comedic writing and comedic performances.

2. Add a project

After your account is all set up and you're logged in - click on the "My Projects" tab at the top of the page. Once clicked, you will see a blue button below that says "Add a Project" - click here to upload your project.

If you are entering our Comedic Writing category -please select the "Script" option in project type.

If you are entering our Comedic Performance category -please select the "Film/Video" option in project type or if you're performing a funny song - you can select "Music/Songwriting".

Fill in the requested details as best you can for all the relevant sections (don't worry if you can't answer every section). Then click "Save Project" at the bottom of the page.

You will then be taken to a new page where you can either upload your project to FilmFreeway directly or include a link to it (for example if your comedic performance has already been uploaded to YouTube, you can add the YouTube link here!).

3. Submit your entry

Once your entry has finished uploading head to the top of the page and click on "Browse Festivals".

You will see a big search bar at the top of the page.

Start typing "Louise Rennison National Funny Award" and our page will appear in the drop down menu. Click on it.

You will then see a green button that says "Submit Now" - click on that and a box will appear allowing you to enter your project. Select the project you would like to enter from the drop down menu (remember entries for the writing competition must be three pages or less and entries for the performance competition must be three minutes or less in order for your entries to be accepted. You also need to be from the UK or your entry won't be valid).

Select the category you wish to enter and then click "Add to Cart & Checkout" in the bottom right hand corner.

Hey presto! That's it!

You will receive an e-mail confirmation and our judges will review your entry before letting you know if you are a Louise Rennison National Funny Award finalist on September 30th 2020.

4. Submit again

There's no limit to how many entries you would like to make and feel free to enter both categories!

Most of all have fun and enjoy - we can't wait to see your entries!
